Projects

Embroidery project

The embroidery project was born out of the pandemic, in a context of worsening poverty, with the aim of generating economic resources through job creation.

Currently, 15 people are involved in the project. Eleven women work in embroidery; Yvonne is in charge of product design; Vonyi is responsible for washing the fabrics after the embroidery is finished; Clementine does the sewing; and Sollicité coordinates the overall organization of the work, including the purchase and transport of materials and the payment of wages.

The products are shipped to Spain every three months for sale in various shops and markets. The revenue generated allows for a monthly salary of 200,000 ariary to be paid to each participant—an amount agreed upon by them based on typical wages in the country—as well as covering the costs of materials and shipping.

Schooling Project

Since 2018, thanks to the support of several sponsors, we have been supporting the schooling of children at the French Expression School La Marmaille in Mangily. This is a private school run by Madame Angellia Razanadrainy, with approximately 600 students and a teaching staff of 25 Malagasy teachers.

The school provides education from primary level through to secondary school completion. Students who go on to university achieve good results in entrance examinations, which has positioned La Marmaille as an institution recognized for the quality of its education.

During the 2025–2026 academic year, a total of 55 students are taking part in the schooling program. The school’s management provide us with quarterly updates on their academic progress, allowing for continuous monitoring throughout their educational journey.

Occasional Support

On an exceptional basis, and not as part of the association’s main objectives, we have at times responded to unforeseen situations related to the health of people involved in the projects.

One of the most significant cases was the birth of the daughter of Cissia, one of the embroiderers, who was born with a malformation in one leg. The child was able to receive the necessary medical treatment and is currently growing up in good health.

Whenever possible, and without losing sight of the association’s primary focus, such situations are considered when they are of particular importance and can be addressed on a one-off basis.

Location

The project takes place in Madagascar, in a small coastal village called Mangily, located in the southwest of the island and 30 km from Toliara, the regional capital.

Madagascar is the largest island in Africa and the fourth largest in the world. It is located southeast of the African continent, off the coast of Mozambique, in the Indian Ocean. The country is marked by strong contrasts: high levels of poverty coexist with extraordinary natural wealth and unique biodiversity, which attract researchers and tourists from all over the world.

The Beaches of Mangily

Mangily is a tourist town due to the great appeal of its beaches. The contrast between the hotel area, located along the beachfront, and the interior of the town highlights the inequalities that the local population faces on a daily basis.
